After tough negotiation we rented a 535SF 2-bedroom apartment in Shatin at a (for HK standards) bargain price of 12,000 HK$ per month. We will relocate to Thailand as of 2/14 (after -but can be before- Chinese New Year. The furniture is virtually new and it is painstakingly designed to fit optimally. Moving the furniture is therefore not a great choice.
For those who want to take over our furniture we offer to take over the rental agreement (although we can opt as of 2/2014 out if we wish). The agreement is until 2/2015 but it may be feasible to get an extension for a longer period.
Comprehensive description:
the 535 SF size -as is common in HK- is gross but as the common areas are small this does not have a big impact.
the living is a good size (see photos) and by meticulously selecting the furniture it is nice to live in.
the kitchen and bathroom are small -as is common in HK-. See photos of kitchen (don't show the large fridge/freezer). No photo of the tiny bathroom - has shower, toilet and small sink). Dishwasher and washer (no dryer, but could be added).
the 2 bedrooms are just good for a queen bed and a closet of 50 cm wide. I use one bedroom as office and this has a good size office; another table and a large closet (we use this partly for the non-daily clothes). We did not make a photo of the office, but this is really a very nice custom fit and has lots of storage space.
The address is: 13-15 Kong Pui Street, Iris Garden, Shatin Park phase III. The building is currently -as you will see- upgraded at the outside. The inside has been upgraded before we moved in 2/2013 and features new, low energy AC's in every room.
It is relatively quiet but yet very close to the bus stops (at the Regal Riverside hotel, just minutes by foot) that go almost anywhere. A taxi ride to the MTR/Mall is 20-22 HK$.
Please appreciate that our interest is to sell the furniture (practically new - purchased 2/2013 and we are most of the time outside HK which is the reason why we leave and take a hotel while in HK).
We spent a lot of time to find the optimum furniture for this apartment and selected high quality bedding and good quality (IKEA) furniture, high end brands for equipment.
